"If the LORD delights in a person's way, He makes their steps firm; though they stumble, they will not fall, for the LORD upholds them with His hand." (Psalm 37:23,24)

LESSONS LEARNED

Friday October 16, 2026 — “What AROMA are we?” (2 Corinthians 2:14–16). Paul’s triumphal-procession image calls Christ’s redeemed people to spread His life-giving knowledge with grateful, faithful lives.

WATCH OUTS

  1. Do not mistake Christian language for genuine rescue from sin. Paul's contrast between life and death calls for more than outward association with believers. (2 Corinthians 2:15–16; John 3:3; Matthew 7:21–23).
  2. Do not let your conduct spread the stench of the old captivity. A claimed follower of Jesus should not continue displaying the works of a life ruled by sin. (2 Corinthians 2:15–16; Galatians 5:19–23; Ephesians 4:17–24).
  3. Do not resent Christ's victory because you refuse His rule. The same Christ welcomed by believers becomes an offense to those determined to remain in darkness. (2 Corinthians 2:16; John 3:19–21; 1 Peter 2:7–8).

SUCCESSES / SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  1. Celebrate Christ's victory with deep gratitude. Jesus conquered sin, Satan and death, so redeemed people march in thankful praise rather than self-congratulation. (2 Corinthians 2:14; Colossians 2:13–15; 1 Corinthians 15:57).
  2. Offer God a life shaped by the pleasing aroma of Christ. Love, holiness and self-giving obedience should make the character of Jesus recognizable in daily life. (2 Corinthians 2:15; Ephesians 5:1–2; Romans 12:1).
  3. Carry the knowledge of Jesus into every place God sends you. Christ's witnesses spread His truth through both faithful words and visible conduct. (2 Corinthians 2:14; Matthew 5:13–16; Acts 1:8).

LEADERSHIP DYNAMICS

  1. Keep Jesus Christ, not the human leader, at the center of the procession. Paul's image exalts the conquering King and gives every servant a dependent place behind Him. (2 Corinthians 2:14; 1 Corinthians 1:23–24; 1 Peter 5:2–4).
  2. Teach both the promise of life and the seriousness of rejection. Faithful leadership does not hide the divided response to the gospel or soften its eternal consequence. (2 Corinthians 2:15–16; Acts 20:26–27; 2 Timothy 4:1–2).
  3. Lead rescued people toward gratitude rather than shame-driven performance. The gospel liberates captives and teaches them to serve from freedom, praise and love. (2 Corinthians 2:14; Luke 4:18; Galatians 5:1).

EKKLESIA PERSPECTIVE

  1. Become a congregation that spreads the knowledge of Christ everywhere. The church's shared life should make Jesus known beyond its gatherings and throughout its community. (2 Corinthians 2:14; Acts 8:4; Philippians 2:14–16).
  2. Expect faithful witness to produce different responses. Some will welcome the message of Christ while others resist it, so the church must remain loving and truthful without manipulation. (2 Corinthians 2:15–16; Acts 17:32–34; 1 Corinthians 1:18).
  3. Examine the aroma of the body together. Humility, patience, forgiveness and love should mark the community that bears Christ's name. (2 Corinthians 2:15; Ephesians 4:1–3; Colossians 3:12–15).
