Weekend October 31–November 1, 2026 — Receiving God’s Grace in Vain? (2 Corinthians 6:1–14). Paul urges believers to respond to God’s grace, resist spiritual strongholds, and avoid compromising with darkness.
WATCH OUTS
- Do not treat spiritual darkness as harmless entertainment. The pastor warns against dabbling in practices that trivialize evil. Scripture: Ephesians 5:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21–22; 1 Peter 5:8.
- Receiving grace must not become an excuse for returning to old strongholds. Paul’s appeal calls for an active response to God’s saving work. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:1; Romans 6:1–4; Galatians 5:1.
- Compromise between righteousness and wickedness erodes witness. Paul uses the contrast between light and darkness to call for discernment. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:14; Ephesians 5:8–11; James 4:4.
SUCCESSES / SPIRITUAL GROWTH
- God’s grace invites a present response. Paul emphasizes that the day of salvation is now. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:2; Isaiah 49:8; Hebrews 3:15.
- God provides spiritual resources for resisting destructive strongholds. Believers can bring thoughts into obedience to Christ. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:3–5; Ephesians 6:10–18; Romans 12:2.
- Honest self-examination can expose drift before it deepens. The weekend challenge calls for repentance and renewed faithfulness. Scripture: Psalm 139:23–24; 2 Corinthians 13:5; 1 John 1:9.
LEADERSHIP DYNAMICS
- Spiritual leaders must warn with clarity and compassion. Paul speaks frankly because he loves the people entrusted to his care. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:1; Acts 20:28–31; 2 Timothy 4:2.
- Credible ministry perseveres through hardship. Paul’s sacrifices demonstrate costly service rather than easy influence. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:3–10; 2 Corinthians 4:8–12; 1 Thessalonians 2:8.
- Leaders must model integrity when facing cultural pressure. A consistent witness avoids treating holiness as negotiable. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:7–8.
EKKLESIA PERSPECTIVE
- The church must help believers recognize spiritual drift. Mutual encouragement keeps the call of grace before the congregation. Scripture: Hebrews 3:12–13; 2 Corinthians 6:1; Galatians 6:1–2.
- The body of Christ can equip one another for spiritual struggle. Shared teaching and prayer support discernment and obedience. Scripture: Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 3:16; 2 Corinthians 10:4–5.
- The church’s identity should display the difference between light and darkness. Christian fellowship should reflect God’s holiness without abandoning love for neighbors. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 Peter 2:9–12; John 13:34–35.
