LESSONS LEARNED

WEEKEND Edition 26/27 September 2026 — “Gibberish or God’s message?” (1 Corinthians 14:1–5). Paul calls us to pursue love, use our gifts for others, and seek understanding, peace, and faithfulness to Scripture.

WATCH OUTS

  1. Do not let another person’s gift become a reason for envy; pursue love and receive the Spirit’s distribution with humility (1 Corinthians 13:4; 12:11; 14:1).
  2. Do not confuse an impressive experience with instruction that benefits the congregation; public speech needs understanding and interpretation (1 Corinthians 14:5, 9, 27–28).
  3. Do not accept a claimed message from God merely because someone sounds confident; test what is said against God’s revealed truth (1 Thessalonians 5:20–21; 1 John 4:1; Acts 17:11).

SUCCESSES / SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  1. Discover and use your gifts as a steward serving others, seeking the common good rather than attention (1 Corinthians 12:7; 1 Peter 4:10–11).
  2. Choose understandable words that strengthen, encourage, and comfort people, then help them put truth into practice (1 Corinthians 14:3; Ephesians 4:29; James 1:22).
  3. Receive correction and encouragement gratefully; spiritual growth includes learning from others as well as contributing your own gifts (Proverbs 12:15; Colossians 3:16).

LEADERSHIP DYNAMICS

  1. Make building up the church the measure of public participation, giving clear space for interpretation and orderly speech (1 Corinthians 14:26–28; 14:40).
  2. Evaluate messages with Scripture rather than charisma or popularity, and teach people to examine claims for themselves (Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 3:16–17).
  3. Lead with peace and humility, restraining rivalry while equipping different members to serve together (1 Corinthians 14:33; Ephesians 4:2–3, 11–12).

EKKLESIA PERSPECTIVE

  1. Value the Spirit’s diverse gifts as contributions to one body, refusing to rank people by visibility or perceived importance (1 Corinthians 12:18–22; Romans 12:4–6).
  2. Make gatherings understandable so that shared learning strengthens the whole church; interpretation serves this common purpose (1 Corinthians 14:5, 12, 19; Colossians 3:16).
  3. Let unity become visible in practical service to neighbors, showing the love of Christ beyond the gathering itself (John 13:34–35; Galatians 6:10; Ephesians 4:16).
