LESSONS LEARNED

Tuesday October 13, 2026 — “Comfort Power” (2 Corinthians 1:1–5). God comforts His people so they can comfort others.

WATCH OUTS

  1. Do not confuse temporary relief with the deep comfort God provides. Paul names God the Father of compassion and God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3–4; Psalm 34:18; John 14:16–18).
  2. Do not assume opposition means Christ has abandoned you. Paul describes abundant suffering and comfort through Christ (2 Corinthians 1:5; John 16:33; Romans 8:35–39).
  3. Do not keep received comfort to yourself. God comforts us so that we may comfort others in trouble (2 Corinthians 1:4; Galatians 6:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:11).

SUCCESSES / SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  1. Receive grace and peace as gifts from God. Paul opens his letter with grace and peace from the Father and Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 1:2; Romans 5:1–2; Philippians 4:7).
  2. Recognize God's compassion amid real distress. The Father of compassion comforts His people in trouble (2 Corinthians 1:3–4; Psalm 103:13; Lamentations 3:22–23).
  3. Let personal spiritual growth become practical encouragement. The comfort we receive equips us to serve others (2 Corinthians 1:4; Hebrews 10:24–25; Ephesians 4:15–16).

LEADERSHIP DYNAMICS

  1. Lead with grace and peace. Paul's greeting models pastoral care (2 Corinthians 1:1–2; Colossians 4:6; James 3:17–18).
  2. Name hardship without making it the final word. Paul moves from suffering to comfort through Christ (2 Corinthians 1:5; 2 Corinthians 4:8–9; Romans 8:18).
  3. Share truthful encouraging reports. The pastor recalls Titus's report strengthening Paul (2 Corinthians 7:6–7; 1 Thessalonians 3:6–7; Proverbs 25:25).

EKKLESIA PERSPECTIVE

  1. Build a church where comfort moves from person to person. God's comfort equips the community to comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:4; Romans 12:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:11).
  2. Support believers who experience rejection. Shared suffering calls for compassionate solidarity (2 Corinthians 1:5; Romans 12:15; Hebrews 13:3).
  3. Let restored relationships refresh the congregation. Titus was encouraged by the Corinthians and brought joy to Paul (2 Corinthians 7:7; 2 Corinthians 7:13; Philippians 2:19).
