LESSONS LEARNED

WEEKEND Edition 19/20 September 2026 — “A Diverse Global Church” (1 Corinthians 12:12-17). What happens when people who differ in background, gifts, and experience belong to the same Lord? Consider how the Holy Spirit makes us one and how your church can show that every member matters.

WATCH OUTS

  1. Do not turn cultural differences into reasons for distance; believers share one body through one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 2:14-18).
  2. Do not mistake being different for being unnecessary; the foot and ear still belong to the body (1 Corinthians 12:15-17; Romans 12:4-5).
  3. Do not confuse church attendance with the new life God gives through reconciliation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17-18; Ephesians 2:8-10).

SUCCESSES / SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  1. Thank God for reconciling you to himself through Christ and making you new; let changed conduct express that new life (2 Corinthians 5:17-18; Colossians 3:9-10).
  2. Receive your place among other believers as a gift of the Spirit, and practice the unity he creates (1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:3-6).
  3. Develop the gifts you have received through humble service that benefits others (1 Corinthians 12:7,11; 1 Peter 4:10-11).

LEADERSHIP DYNAMICS

  1. Help people find meaningful service without requiring everyone to have the same abilities or assignment (1 Corinthians 12:18-20; Romans 12:6-8).
  2. Make room for overlooked members and resist favoritism toward impressive or influential people (1 Corinthians 12:22-25; James 2:1-4).
  3. Equip the whole congregation for ministry so growth comes through the contribution of each part (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Peter 4:10).

EKKLESIA PERSPECTIVE

  1. The church’s unity rests in Christ and the Spirit, reaching across ethnic and social boundaries (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).
  2. A local congregation expresses belonging through shared life, service, and encouragement (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25).
  3. Diversity of gifts strengthens the church when each member serves the common good (1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 4:16).
