November 2, 2026 — Harmony Danger? (2 Corinthians 6:14–7:1). Paul warns against compromising holiness while believers remain faithful witnesses to those who do not yet know Jesus.

WATCH OUTS

  1. Compromise can disguise itself as harmony. Paul warns that lowering godly standards for agreement can undermine holiness. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:14; Romans 12:2; Ephesians 5:11.
  2. Do not mistake Paul’s warning for a command to abandon existing spouses. The pastor expressly distinguishes discernment about yoking from automatic divorce or contract-breaking. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 Corinthians 7:12–16; 1 Peter 3:1–2.
  3. Idolatry cannot share the loyalty owed to the living God. Paul contrasts the temple of God with idols. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:16; 1 Corinthians 10:21; 1 John 5:21.

SUCCESSES / SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  1. The Holy Spirit’s presence gives the believer a new identity. The Christian’s body is to honor the God who dwells within. Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20; 2 Corinthians 6:16; Romans 8:9.
  2. Redemption by Christ’s blood calls forth grateful holiness. The price of salvation is not silver or gold. Scripture: 1 Peter 1:18–19; 1 Corinthians 6:20; Titus 2:14.
  3. God’s promises strengthen courageous separation from sin. Believers are invited to pursue purity out of reverence for God. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:17–7:1; Isaiah 52:11; 1 Peter 1:15–16.

LEADERSHIP DYNAMICS

  1. Wise leaders examine partnership obligations before binding commitments. The unequal-yoke image calls for foresight about conflicting values. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:14; Proverbs 13:20; Amos 3:3.
  2. Leaders must preserve both truth and a credible witness to outsiders. The lesson rejects cutting off every non-Christian relationship. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:20; Colossians 4:5–6; 1 Peter 3:15.
  3. Family leadership requires courageous boundaries. The pastor calls parents and spouses to protect their households from corrupting influences. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:1; Proverbs 4:23; Ephesians 5:15–17.

EKKLESIA PERSPECTIVE

  1. The church is God’s dwelling, not a gathering around idols. Paul’s corporate temple language calls believers to covenant loyalty. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:16; 1 Corinthians 3:16–17; Ephesians 2:21–22.
  2. Holiness and evangelistic relationships belong together. Separation from wickedness does not mean withdrawing from everyone who needs Jesus. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:17; 1 Corinthians 5:9–10; Matthew 5:14–16.
  3. Believers encourage one another toward complete holiness. The community should resist contamination of body and spirit in reverence for God. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 10:24–25; 1 Thessalonians 5:23.
